GRIFFIN WATCHSTAND

Much as with the iPod, iPhone, and iPad, the advent of the Apple Watch represented an exciting opportunity for innovation at Griffin. As we watched the product reveal along with the rest of the world, it became apparent through admission and omission that no matter how much magic this wearable promised, it would almost certainly require nightly charging. We felt that we could vastly improve on the user experience presented by the inductive charging puck that Apple included.

The tug-of-war between retailer’s desire to have our products available at launch day and Apple’s characteristic reluctance to release early data made this product particularly challenging to execute. Our team was elated upon release of the watch to find that everything fit beautifully. Griffin’s two models of WatchStand have exceeded forecasts by a wide margin and have received nearly universal praise from both consumers and editorials.

Both models of WatchStand give the user an easy way to prop up their phone while charging to give at-a-glance access to nightstand-friendly applications. Nightstands are chaotic and cluttered affairs and we really wanted to keep Apple Watch and iPhone charging as clean as possible. Flip our WatchStand over and you'll find a carefully thought-out cable management. Taking your watch off is the last thing you do before you nod off and the first thing you do when you wake up, so we wanted it to be extremely easy.

The tower like design of the WatchStand was chosen to allow the user to place their Apple Watch onto the charging puck from any angle without fuss.  The charging puck that Apple includes with the watch is a slippery chrome shape and comes with either 1M or 2M of cable. The tower contains a silicone core that retains the puck firmly while managing the cable remarkably neatly.
